FAQ

Welcome to Covis, the following FAQ guide will help you and your community get a better understanding of the benefits that Covis can provide.

What is Covis?

Covis is a group of individuals who are dedicated to protect the interests of the non-profit community, while focusing on budget, quality, and timeline during the many phases of construction.

What does Covis stand for?

Covis is an amalgamation of two words - Common and Vision.  During the developmental stages of formation the founders of Covis were trying to identify a unique and simple name that would be able to easily communicate the mission of “becoming a vested partner in the development of non-profit organizations, and ensure that their vision was in common with the communities they serve.”

What does Covis do?

The core offering of Covis is to represent the non-profit community during their physical growth phase, particularly in developing and building new facilities.

How does Covis represent their clients?

Covis assigns full time managers to assist, guide, and ensure that the communities’ best interests are always the driving force of the project.  They will become the medium through which the community, Architects, and General Contractor communicate. They represent the non-profit community.

What can an Owner’s Representative do for us?

Construction projects historically average 10-12% over budget and run past scheduled completion dates by 20%.  Although cost overruns and submitted change orders can and will be present during the course of any project, a dedicated owner’s representative works to ensure that the community is receiving the “goods and services desired” while providing the most value for the dollars spent by minimizing any additional costs.  Many times cost overruns can be reduced by as much as 25-50% of the average.

How does Covis structure their fees?

Covis usually bills the client a flat fee based on the total projected cost of the project.  However, they are open to discuss any option that might best serve the community.

Does Covis only represent churches?

No.  Covis will review each client and project on a case by case basis.  However,  the organization must be non-profit.
